Estimate request

Category, how contaminated the water is

Category and class, in plain language

Two numbers govern a water loss, and between them they decide what is saved, how much equipment goes into the room and how the file reads.

The ANSI/IICRC S500 standard sorts water by how contaminated it is, category 1 to 3, and by how much of the room absorbed it, class 1 to 4. The category decides what is dried in place and what comes out. The class decides how much drying equipment the room needs and for how long. Both are assigned on site, and the category is reassessed rather than assumed, because clean water that has been sitting for days is no longer clean water.

NORTH JERSEY · N.J. ESTIMATE · IN WRITING RECEIVED NO. 0168

    Request received.

Your written estimate comes back from the technicians who do the work. For anything urgent, call (908) 520-8698.

    How the estimate works

From the form to the written estimate

Three steps, no obligation, no hidden fees.

01 We read it and reply

The photograph is the first thing a technician looks at, because it usually settles the water category or the extent of the soil before anybody visits.

02 You get it in writing

You get the estimate in writing before any work begins, with no hidden fees. Anything that will not come out is named in it, so nothing is discovered on the day. Nothing is owed until you accept it.

    03 We agree a time

Pick a window that suits you. For an active water loss a crew dispatches now instead, and the surface is documented before and after either way.

    What to send

    What helps us price it

Four details make a written estimate exact instead of approximate.

    The rooms and surfaces

What needs doing, and roughly how much of it there is: the rooms, the flights of stairs, a sectional, three area rugs.

    A photograph

A photograph of the worst area shows the water category or the depth of the soil, and it is the only way to answer a question about a particular stain before somebody is standing on it.

How long it has been there

For a water loss, when it started. Clean water reached inside about forty eight hours is a different job from the same water three days later, because by then the pad and the subfloor have held it.

    The address

The town and the ZIP code let us confirm the address is inside the six counties and plan the visit. Add the floor and the parking if the building is awkward.

    Drying times

How long things take to dry

Typical times, read daily with moisture meters until the material is back to a dry standard rather than guessed at the door.

Typical drying times after cleaning and after a water loss.
    SurfaceTypical time
Carpet, walkableAbout two hours with airflow
Carpet, fully dryThe same day in most homes
Fabric sofa or armchairFour to eight hours
Wool area rugDried flat and fully before it goes back down
Structural drying after a lossUntil the monitoring points read dry, checked daily

Standing water is extracted on the first visit. Air conditioning speeds every row in this table and open windows in a humid month slow them, because air conditioning takes moisture out of the room and an open window puts it back.

    Frequently asked questions

Question 1: Does an estimate cost anything?

No. The written estimate is free, there is no obligation, and there are no hidden fees. You get it before any work begins and nothing is owed until you accept it.

Question 2: Can you price it from photographs alone?

Often, for a cleaning job. Rooms, stairs and a sectional can be sized from good photographs and a few measurements. A water loss is different: the category of the water and the class of the room are read on site with a meter, so the photographs set the scope and the technician confirms the figure before any work begins. Whichever it is, you have the estimate in writing first.

Question 3: Do I have to agree to texts to get an estimate?

No. Both consent boxes on this form are optional and neither is a condition of any purchase. Leave them unticked and you still get the estimate, and you can stop messages at any time by replying STOP to a text or by calling the office.

    Water coming in now?

Do not wait for the form. Call the office at any hour and the technician calls back with an arrival time for your address.
