What this page explains

This page lists every cookie and every similar piece of browser storage that dhlcarpetrestoration.com uses, what each one does, who sets it, how long it lasts and how you control it. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

A cookie is a small text file a website places in your browser so that the site, or a company working for it, can recognize the browser on a later visit. Local storage is a similar space in your browser that a site can write to, and it is not sent to a server on its own. First party means set by this site. Third party means set by another company's domain.

This is a small family owned restoration company. The site has no accounts, no basket and no online payment, so it needs very little from your browser.

Nothing runs until you choose

On your first visit a consent slip appears and the site waits. Until you answer it, the only thing running is the necessary storage in the next section. No analytics script is loaded, no session recording script is loaded, and neither one sets a cookie. Google Consent Mode is set with every signal denied before you answer, and it changes only when you change it.

The slip gives you three choices:

There are three categories:

Your answer is kept for 12 months, in your browser's local storage and in a first party cookie, both named cc-consent. After 12 months the slip asks again. You can change your mind sooner from the cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the slip with your current answer shown. Turning a category off stops all further collection from your browser and clears that tool's cookies from this browser. It cannot delete what was already collected while the category was on, which is why both tools are set to the shortest retention periods they offer.

  • Accept all, which turns both optional categories on.
  • Reject non essential, which leaves both off. Nothing on the site stops working.
  • Manage choices, which opens a panel with one switch per category so you can accept one and refuse the other.
  • Necessary. Always on, because it is what remembers the answer you just gave and the accessibility settings you pick. It identifies nobody and sends nothing to anyone.
  • Analytics, which is Google Analytics 4. Off until you turn it on.
  • Session recordings, which is Microsoft Clarity. Off until you turn it on.

Necessary, always on

These items are what the site needs in order to respect your choices. They do not track you and they are shared with nobody.

cc-consent is the only cookie this site sets on its own.

  • cc-consent, a first party cookie with a matching entry in local storage. Records which categories you accepted and the date you answered. Lasts 12 months. It holds your answer and nothing else: no identifier, no history, nothing about you.
  • ax, in local storage only, not a cookie. Records the accessibility menu choices you make, which are bigger text, high contrast, highlighted links, paused motion, a readable font and a big cursor, so that every page opens the way you set it. Kept until you clear it or reset the menu. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Analytics, off until you turn it on

Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC.

What it tells us: how many people visit, which pages they read, how they arrived, roughly where they are at a town or region level rather than a street, what device and browser they use, and whether they reached a form or tapped the phone number. We use it to improve the site. We do not use it to identify anybody and we do not join it to an estimate request.

Until you turn analytics on, the Google Analytics script is not fetched from googletagmanager.com and neither of these cookies exists. What it sets once it is on:

Settings we have chosen: Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address, it uses it for a moment to estimate location and discards it. Visitor level data retention is set to two months, the shortest available. Google Signals is turned off, so a visit is not linked to a Google account for advertising. Data sharing with other Google products is turned off.

To turn it off again, use the cookie settings link in the footer. You can also block cookies from google-analytics.com in your browser.

  • _ga, a first party cookie. A random identifier telling Google Analytics that this browser has been here before. Lasts two years.
  • _ga_ followed by our measurement id, a first party cookie. Keeps the state of the current visit. Lasts two years.

Session recordings, off until you turn them on

Microsoft Clarity, operated by Microsoft Corporation.

What it tells us: how visitors scroll, click and tap on a page, shown as heatmaps and as a replay of a single visit. It helps us find a page where people get stuck or a button that is hard to find.

Until you turn session recordings on, the Clarity script is not fetched from clarity.ms and neither of these cookies exists. What it sets once it is on:

Settings we have chosen: Clarity masks the text on the page in a recording, so a replay shows layout and movement rather than what you read or typed. A photograph you attach to the estimate form is never captured. Microsoft keeps an individual recording for 30 days and an aggregate heatmap for up to 13 months, then deletes them. Clarity is connected to no advertising account.

To turn it off again, use the cookie settings link in the footer, or block cookies from clarity.ms in your browser.

  • _clck, a first party cookie. A random Clarity identifier for this site and your preferences. Lasts one year.
  • _clsk, a first party cookie. Joins the pages you view in one visit into one recording. Lasts one day.

If a measurement id is not set

Either tool loads only when its measurement id is configured on this site. Where an id is not set, that tool does not load at all, whatever you choose in the slip, and none of the cookies listed above exists.

The bot check on the forms

When you start a form, the site loads Cloudflare Turnstile from challenges.cloudflare.com so that we can tell a person from an automated program filling forms in bulk. It is not loaded on a page until you start a form. It sets no advertising cookie and it does not follow you across other websites.

Fonts

The typefaces are served from this site. No font is fetched from Google Fonts or any other font host, so fetching a page sends no request to a font company.

Advertising cookies

None. This site sets no advertising or retargeting cookie and loads no advertising pixel from Google, from Meta or from anyone else. The site's content security policy names every outside address a page may contact, and the only ones on it are the two measurement tools above and the Cloudflare bot check. If advertising measurement is ever added, it becomes a fourth category in the slip, off until you turn it on, and it is listed on this page before it goes live.

What is counted without a cookie

The site keeps a first party count of a few actions, such as a tap on the phone number or a form being sent. It sets no cookie and stores no identifier in your browser, so there is nothing here for you to clear. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what each row holds.

Other browser controls

Every major browser lets you see, delete and block cookies and local storage in its settings. Blocking the necessary items means the slip asks again on every visit and the accessibility menu forgets your choices, and the rest of the site still works.

Changes

When we add or remove a cookie we update this list and the last updated date at the top. A new tool that collects personal information is never switched on before it is listed here.
